Web Mapping
During the summer of 2019, my coworker and I mapped each tree on Temple University's main campus and then created a web map to present the trees' ecological benefits. Upon inventorying every tree on Temple's Main Campus for its common name and DBH using ArcGIS Collector, iTree Eco (U.S. Forest Service) was used to determine benefits for each tree based upon location, trunk diameter, canopy spread, and more.
Interactive infographics are included in the application to encourage the user to explore the different trees on campus and each tree's direct benefits to the urban ecosystem. Statistics for avoided water runoff, pollution removal, carbon sequestration, and monetary worth of each tree are displayed in the application as well as images of each tree.
